Cleaning
1.The five minute pick up just might be for you and your little ones! A few times or even once a day pull out your timer and set it for 5 minutes. Make it fun by seeing who can pick up the most stuff in 5 minutes!!
2.Matress Turning: Everyone knows that turning your mattress at regular intervals is important, however remembering to turn it and remembering what side or end needs to be flipped is not so easy. To remember take a permanent felt tip pen and write J F M (for the first 3 months) at one end of the mattress, then A M J (next 3 months) at the other end and then flip the mattress over and write the other 6 months putting 3 at each end. This really eliminates the guess work.
3.Slow Running Drains Using Baking soda and clear vinegar, pour about 2 Tbls of baking soda in drain. Pour vinegar over soda until it bubbles. Let set and add more vinegar. Repeat adding vinegar until it quites making bubbles. Repeat process about once a month.
4.A small container of white vinegar left in any room keeps the roomsmelling fresh, especially when the house or room is closed up for a while.
5.Pour leftover cola drinks into your toilet bowl. Let soak. Then Flush.You will have a sparkling bowl.
6.Remove lipstick from linen napkins by dabbing on a little petroleum jelly, then wash.
7.To clean silk flowers of dust, put them in a plastic bag with a 2 Tablespoons of salt. Shake well while holding stems and bag shut.
8.A cheap copper cleaner - mix 1 Tblsp each of flour, salt and vinegar.
9.Scatter a few bay or mint leaves on pantry shelves as a natural defenseagainst warm-weather pests.
10.Clean a toilet. Drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes,brush, and flush.The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous china.
11. Clean a thermos bottle. Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka-Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer, if necessary).
12.Remove burned-on grease from a pot or pan. Fill the pot or pan with water, drop in six Alka-Seltzer tablets, let soak for one hour, then scrub as usual.
13. Unclog a drain. Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka-Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes, then run the hot water.
14. Tired of cleaning the top of your refrigerator? Place a towel up there to catch all the dust. Just wash and replace when dirty.Thanks Teresa!!
15. You can remove rust stains from clothes by taking equal parts of salt and cream of tarter and enough water to make a paste and spreading the stain with the paste. Put clothing in the sun for at least a day. The stain should be gone. Sometimes requires more that one treatment, but it will work.Thanks Teresa!!
To clean a toilet:
Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl. Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
To clean corrosion from car battery terminals; Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
To loosen a rusted bolt; Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
To bake a moist ham; Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan; wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
To remove grease from clothes; Empty a can of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
