On January 15th, 2005 a Record breaking price of $6,100 was paid for the head shown on this page.  This took place at the annual Head Vase Convention in Kissimmee, Florida.

Rare possibly one of a kind 7 inch Head              Sold by Silent auction at the 2005 Convention    Dealer Ruth Harris offered the head for auction

There are no manufacturing markings on the bottom of this piece.  What is known, is that a collector purchased this head in 1990 for $25.  This head caused quite a stir at the convention.  Ruth, the dealer that offered this piece up for auction also operates a head vase website on Ruby Lane.  Be sure to check out her website on Ruby Lane.

I had a chance to examine this piece and found no flaws.  Bidding jumped from $3200 at one point, to $4200, then $6000, and finally $6,100 a record setting price paid for one head vase.  Just goes to show, there are still some rare head vases still to be found.  Congratulations to dealer Ruth, and to the buyer, who purchased a truly unique piece.

Dealer and buyer were both happy after the auction ended.  However, I do think John ought to hold this head with both hands  !
