Mary was Joseph's sister and Fred was Eliska's brother. in doing research I have come across the marriage of John J Basford and Anaise Fayard on Sept. 1, 1880. I believe this must be the Aunt and Uncle of Eliska and Fred, possibly the sister of Alphonce Fayard, the father of Eliska. because the marriage of these two is before Eliska was even born. in fact 11 years before her birth. Joseph was an exceptional man. He was a devout Catholic first and foremost. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather.When he was in Alia, he attended and graduated from Elementary school. While his father was in the USA earning the money to bring him and his mother and sisters to the USA. He was the man of the family. I'm so sure his mother appreciated the help he gave her. It must have been a lonely four or five years without Rosolin, but they strived and made it to New Orleans and finally came to be united again. Grandfather Joseph was the letter writer for his family and for most of Long beach and Gulfport. at that school in Alia he learned all the things he would need the rest of his life. he owned a Grocery business in the town of Gulfport and he wrote the letters back home to Italy for all his friends.
